Strengthen Your Microsoft 365 Security with Octiga

Close the gaps in your Microsoft 365 security with automated monitoring and protection against data leaks and account breaches.

Microsoft 365 security posture management

Octiga for Microsoft 365 Security

See the gaps. Fix them properly. Keep them fixed.

Most Microsoft 365 setups look secure from the outside. MFA is switched on. Defender is there. Policies exist somewhere in the admin portal.

But when we dig in, we often find risky settings, old rules, inconsistent policies and no simple way to see what needs fixing first.

Octiga gives us a clearer way to review, standardise and maintain Microsoft 365 security without relying on guesswork.

It helps turn Microsoft 365 security from occasional manual checking into a managed, repeatable process: review the tenant, fix the risks, standardise the baseline and keep watching for drift.

Microsoft 365 is powerful. It is also easy to leave half-finished.

  • Policies applied differently across users and teams
  • Admin accounts with more access than they need
  • Mailbox rules and forwarding settings no one has reviewed
  • Secure Score treated as the whole answer
  • No regular check for configuration drift
  • No clear evidence of what has been reviewed or improved
What we often see

Microsoft 365 security drift is common

Microsoft 365 is not usually insecure because nobody cares. It becomes risky because changes happen. People join. People leave. Licences change. New apps get added. Old settings get forgotten.

Over time, the setup drifts away from where it should be.

Settings are switched on, but not checked

MFA, conditional access and security policies may exist, but they are not always applied consistently.

Risky changes go unnoticed

Mailbox rules, forwarding, sharing settings and admin changes can quietly increase risk.

No one owns the baseline

Without a clear standard, Microsoft 365 security becomes a collection of good intentions.

Why native tools are not always enough

Microsoft gives you the controls. Someone still has to manage them.

Microsoft 365 includes a strong set of security tools, reports and recommendations. But that does not mean everything stays secure by default.

Settings still need to be reviewed. Policies need to be applied consistently. Risky changes need to be spotted. Recommendations need to be understood before they are applied. That is where many organisations struggle.

Native tools can be fragmented

Useful information may sit across different Microsoft portals, reports and admin areas.

Manual checks get missed

Security reviews often happen when someone remembers, when an audit is due, or after something has already gone wrong.

Consistency is hard to prove

Without a clear baseline, it is difficult to show that users, groups, mailboxes, Teams and SharePoint are being managed to the same standard.

Microsoft 365 gives you the switches. Octiga helps us check which ones matter, whether they are set properly, and whether they stay that way.

Microsoft Secure Score

Secure Score is useful. It is not the whole answer.

Microsoft Secure Score can be a helpful place to start. It gives you a number, highlights recommended improvements and shows whether parts of your Microsoft 365 security setup need attention.

The danger is treating that number as proof that everything is safe.

A score can tell you where to look

A higher Secure Score can show progress, but it does not always tell you which risks matter most, what could break if a setting is changed, or whether your setup will stay secure over time.

A better score is nice. A Microsoft 365 tenant that is properly reviewed, hardened and monitored is better.

Octiga helps turn the score into action

Secure Score can flag a problem. Someone still has to decide whether the recommendation fits your organisation, check the licensing, understand the impact, apply the change safely and keep watching for drift.

That is where Octiga helps. It gives us a clearer way to review Microsoft 365 security posture, manage baselines, spot risky changes and report on what needs attention.

  • Review Secure Score recommendations in context
  • Prioritise the risks that actually matter
  • Move from dashboard warnings to practical remediation
  • Keep checking for configuration drift over time

Secure Score is the dashboard light. Octiga helps us open the bonnet, find the issue and keep Microsoft 365 in better shape.

What Octiga does

A clearer way to manage Microsoft 365 security

Octiga helps review Microsoft 365 environments, apply sensible security baselines, monitor for issues and highlight what needs attention.

It is not trying to replace your whole cyber security stack. Its job is more specific: helping keep Microsoft 365 configured properly and monitored for risky changes.

Baseline management

Apply and maintain consistent Microsoft 365 security settings instead of relying on manual checks.

Gap analysis

Highlight where your Microsoft 365 setup falls short of sensible security standards.

Risky configuration checks

Spot settings that could increase the chance of account compromise, data exposure or business disruption.

Monitoring and alerts

Keep watch for risky changes, suspicious account activity and configuration drift over time.

Practical remediation

Move from “we found a problem” to “we know what needs fixing” more quickly.

Clearer reporting

Produce clearer evidence that Microsoft 365 security is being reviewed, managed and improved.

Reporting and evidence

Better Microsoft 365 security needs better evidence

It is one thing to say Microsoft 365 has been reviewed. It is another thing to show what was checked, what was found, what was fixed and what still needs attention.

Octiga helps turn Microsoft 365 security from a hidden admin task into something easier to evidence. That matters when you are answering questions from senior leaders, insurers, governors, trustees, auditors or clients.

Show what has been reviewed

Give a clearer picture of Microsoft 365 posture instead of relying on screenshots or vague reassurance.

Track what has improved

Show progress over time as risky settings are corrected and security baselines improve.

Support governance conversations

Provide clearer evidence for cyber insurance, leadership reviews, board reports and compliance discussions.

Good security is not just about fixing settings. It is also about being able to prove that the work is happening.

The plan

In simple terms: we review → fix → standardise → maintain

1

Review

We check your Microsoft 365 setup and look for gaps, risks and weak settings.

2

Fix

We help correct the issues that matter most, not just chase a score.

3

Standardise

We create a clearer security baseline so your setup has a proper reference point.

4

Maintain

We keep watch for drift, risky changes and signs that things have slipped.

The aim is not to make Microsoft 365 more complicated. The aim is to make it safer, clearer and easier to manage.

Where Octiga fits

This is not the whole stack

Octiga is useful, but it should not be confused with endpoint protection, email security, backup or 24/7 response.

We see it as part of the Microsoft 365 security layer: configuration, posture, baselines and ongoing checks.

Good fit

  • You rely heavily on Microsoft 365
  • You want better visibility of risky settings
  • You need a clearer security baseline
  • You do not have time to check every admin portal manually

Not the right fit

  • You need full endpoint detection and response
  • You need advanced email filtering
  • You need Microsoft 365 backup and recovery
  • You want a full 24/7 SOC service

How we position it

Octiga is a practical Microsoft 365 posture tool. We will recommend it when it fits, not because it is the loudest product in the room.

Build a stronger Microsoft 365 stack

Useful tools that work around Octiga

Microsoft 365 security works best when posture, identity, email protection and backup are treated as connected parts.

Straight answer

Should you use Octiga?

Maybe. It depends what problem you are trying to solve.

If your biggest issue is that Microsoft 365 security has grown messy, inconsistent or hard to review, Octiga can be a sensible option.

If your main concern is active threat detection, phishing, endpoint protection or recovery after an incident, we would usually look at other tools first.

FAQs

Questions people ask about Octiga

Why use Octiga if Microsoft 365 already has security tools?

Microsoft 365 includes useful native controls, but someone still has to review them, apply them consistently, spot risky changes and evidence the work. Octiga helps make that process clearer, more repeatable and easier to manage over time.

Does Octiga replace Microsoft security tools?

No. Octiga helps manage, monitor and maintain Microsoft 365 security settings. It works alongside Microsoft’s own tools.

Is Octiga the same as Huntress ITDR?

No. Huntress ITDR focuses on detecting identity-based threats and suspicious Microsoft 365 activity. Octiga is more focused on posture, baselines and configuration management.

Is Octiga the same as Huntress ISPM?

No. They overlap in the Microsoft 365 security space, but they are not identical. Huntress ISPM is stronger where identity exposure and posture insight are the priority. Octiga can still be useful for practical Microsoft 365 baseline management.

Do we still need Microsoft 365 backup?

Yes. Security settings do not replace backup. If data is deleted, encrypted, corrupted or removed by a compromised account, you still need a reliable way to recover it.

Does Octiga stop phishing emails?

No. For phishing and malicious email protection, we would normally look at dedicated email security such as Avanan.

Is Octiga suitable for small businesses?

Yes, especially if the business relies on Microsoft 365 but does not have the time or in-house expertise to keep reviewing security settings manually, checking for drift and producing evidence of improvement.
