Meet Glitch | Black Swan Cyber

A new face at Black Swan Cyber

Meet
Glitch.

A curious digital troublemaker who lives in the small gaps businesses do not always notice.

Who is Glitch?

Small gaps.
Unexpected consequences.

Glitch is not a hacker. He represents the overlooked details and everyday decisions that can turn into much bigger problems.

The update postponed until tomorrow. The account nobody disabled. The backup nobody tested. The unexpected email that looks completely genuine.

In these stories, the Black Swan is the protector. In real life, Black Swan Cyber is your security partner: helping you understand the gaps, decide what to fix first and choose protection that fits your organisation. We work alongside your IT team and help you make sense of what needs doing next.

Glitch finds the gaps

Curious, clever and just mischievous enough to show what can happen when a small detail is missed.

The Black Swan notices

Calm observation, sensible preparation and a practical response when something unexpected appears.

The Black Swan and Glitch facing each other in a dark studio Glitch makes the gaps visible. Black Swan helps you deal with them.

Where might Glitch be hiding?

Each story starts with something perfectly ordinary. A postponed update, an old account or a request that looks genuine.

Updates

Remind me tomorrow

Criminals do not always need to find a new way in. Sometimes the weakness has already been fixed, but the update has not been installed.

Glitch loves an update you will install tomorrow. Especially when tomorrow never comes.

Old accounts

Dave left six months ago

Nobody deliberately left the door open. Disabling the account simply fell into the gap between HR, management and IT.

When somebody leaves, who checks that all their digital keys have been returned?

Shared passwords

One password. Six people.

Shared credentials make it harder to protect an account and almost impossible to tell who actually used it.

One password. Six members of staff. Absolutely no idea who logged in.

Invoice fraud

The invoice looks right

The supplier, conversation and email account can all be genuine. A criminal may only need to change the payment details.

Glitch changed one line. Fortunately, somebody checked.

Identity

Glitch has the password

Passwords can be stolen, captured or guessed. A second, stronger identity check means the password alone should not be enough.

Glitch knew the password. Fortunately, the password was not enough.

Domain spoofing

Your email address. His bank details.

Glitch does not always need access to your mailbox. He can try to forge the From address so a message appears to come from your business.

SPF, DKIM and DMARC help receiving email systems check that claim. Properly configured DMARC enforcement asks them to quarantine or reject messages that fail those checks.

Glitch borrowed your email address. The receiving system wanted proof.

Understand SPF, DKIM and DMARC

These checks protect against spoofing your domain. They do not make every email safe or stop fraud from a compromised genuine account.

After hours

Your business went home. Its technology did not.

Email, cloud accounts, websites and laptops do not keep office hours. That is why detecting unusual activity matters as much as trying to prevent it.

Glitch arrived at 2:13am. Fortunately, somebody was watching.
