Massive Cybersecurity Boost: Emails Getting Safer for Everyone!

Big news for email! Google, Yahoo, and other tech giants are joining forces to make your email safer than ever. This global collaboration, one of the biggest in cybersecurity history, is cracking down on email impersonation attacks that plague businesses and individuals alike.

Email Protection

Why is this important?

  • Email is a prime target: Over 90% of cyberattacks start with an email!
  • Impersonation is rampant: Fake emails pretending to be from friends, companies, or even banks are all too common.
  • New security weapon: Enter DMARC, a powerful tool that verifies email senders and stops spoofing in its tracks.

What does this mean for you?

  • Don’t worry, we’ve got your back! We’re launching a new service to optimise your DMARC settings, ensuring all your emails reach their intended recipients while keeping bad guys out.
  • Stay compliant, stay secure: Our managed DMARC service takes care of everything, so you can focus on what matters: running your business.

Technical Details

What is DMARC

DMARC is an email protocal and stands for Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance.  To explain it further, we also need to explain SPF and DKIM as DMARC relies on these to work properly…

Sender Policy Framework (SPF) checks who can send emails from your domain;

DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) ensures that the content of your emails hasn’t been tampered with or compromised.

Imagine you’re the King or Queen of Email Land and your loyal subjects are your messages, buzzing around delivering important news and updates. But there’s a wicked sorcerer in the shadows, the Spoofer, who loves forging your royal seal to send out fake messages, spreading chaos and confusion.

Enter the brave knights of email security: SPF, DKIM, and DMARC!

SPF, the Sheriff of Senders: He keeps a list of authorised mail carriers, like your royal pigeons. When an email arrives claiming to be from you, SPF checks if it came from one of your trusted carriers. If not, it’s flagged as suspicious, like a messenger wearing a costume moustache.

DKIM, the Digital Knight: He creates a unique, invisible wax seal for every message you send. When an email arrives, DKIM checks the seal. If it’s broken or missing, it’s a forgery, like a document with a cracked wax stamp.

DMARC, the Dragon Master: He’s the ultimate authority, deciding what to do with suspicious emails. He can quarantine them, like knights locking a disguised stranger in the tower, or even banish them completely!

Now, the exciting news: Google and Yahoo, the wise rulers of vast email kingdoms, are strengthening DMARC, giving him even more power. Soon, messages without proper SPF and DKIM won’t even reach the castle gates, like a foreign messenger denied entry without a visa. This will make your email land safer than ever!

But remember, even with these brave knights, vigilance is key. Always be wary of suspicious emails, even if they appear to come from someone you know. Look for broken seals, forged sender addresses and anything that smells like trickery.

With SPF, DKIM, and DMARC at your side, and a healthy dose of caution, you can rule your email land with confidence, knowing your messages are safe from the Spoofer’s wicked tricks!

So, there you have it: the story of how email security works, with a touch of royal intrigue and a dash of digital magic. Remember, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC are your friends, working tirelessly to keep your inbox safe and sound!
