đ Date Difference Calculator
Calculate the number of days between two dates, with a simple toggle to include or exclude the start and end dates.
Select a start and end date to see the number of days between them.
Use the toggle above to switch between exclusive (days in between) and inclusive (includes start and end date).
How to use this date difference calculator
This tool helps you work out how many days sit between two dates.
You can switch between:
Exclusive â counts the days between the two dates
Inclusive â counts the days and includes both the start and end date
The result and label update automatically when you change the toggle.
Â
1. Pick your dates
In Start date, choose the earlier date.
In End date, choose the later date.
If the end date is before the start date, the calculator will show an error.
Â
2. Choose counting mode
Under the dates youâll see Counting mode and a blue toggle:
Exclusive (days in between)
From 1 Jan to 3 Jan = 2 days
Inclusive (includes start and end date)
From 1 Jan to 3 Jan = 3 days
Flip the toggle and the label will change to match the mode.
If youâve already run a calculation, switching the toggle will automatically recalculate the result.
Â
3. Run the calculation
Click Calculate difference.
Youâll see:
Total days â the exact number of days based on the mode youâve chosen
Mode line â a short explanation confirming whether itâs inclusive or exclusive
Approximate breakdown â the same period shown as:
years
months
weeks
Years and months use average lengths, so theyâre an estimate rather than a precise calendar breakdown. The day count is the one to rely on for exact windows.
Â
4. When this is useful
This is handy for:
Policy and contract periods
Insurance waiting times and renewal windows
Incident timelines and reporting deadlines
Project or review cycles
Use inclusive when youâre thinking in terms of âdays coveredâ (e.g. insurance cover from X to Y), and exclusive when you want the number of days between two points.
